The head of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce Imports Commission has announced that all imports to Iran have been halted over the past 25 days.
Majidreza Hariri told ISNA that importers are not being allotted any foreign currency to carry out transactions. “The Central Bank has stopped giving any foreign currency to either private or government importers for more than 20 days,” Hariri said.
He added that all trade has been shut down in recent weeks, causing shortages of medical drugs and food.
Hariri claimed the dysfunction is due to a lack of coordination between the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade and the Central Bank.
