The head of the Farsit Factory Labour Association in Lorestan says 400 workers there have not been paid in the past six months.
Ahmad Salarvand told ILNA that management is grappling with serious financial problems and no longer has the means to pay the workers.
Salarvand reports that the workers have gathered on several occasions in front of the factory’s head office as well as government offices, but so far their needs have not been addressed.
He adds that despite reported promises to workers, the workers remain without pay.
The Iranian economy has been on a decline due to widespread sanctions and the lack of effective administrative action, which has led to widespread layoffs and the closure of many factories.
