Iran’s Foreign Minister says incoming Iranian president Hassan Rohani must appoint new members to the nuclear negotiating team before talks with the P5+1 can be scheduled.
Ali Akbar Salehi added that there has been no correspondence regarding a definite date for a meeting but he expressed certainty that the talks will continue soon.
Catherine Ashton, the EU foreign policy chief and lead speaker for the P5+1 delegation negotiating with Iran, called for nuclear talks to resume as soon as possible.
The new Iranian president swept to power in June 2013, and one of his main platforms was changing the country’s approach to the nuclear negotiations by assuming a more conciliatory stance.
