A group of Zarand residents in Kerman Province stopped the passage of the Yazd-Kerman train in protest against delays in the construction of an overpass bridge across the train tracks.
The Sobh Zarand website reports that the delay in the construction of the overpass has led to serious difficulties for residents who wish to access the surrounding suburban areas.
The bridge was supposed to have been completed within four months, according to an official statement.
The report adds that Zarand Governor Reza Karami appeared among the protesters and assured the residents that the project will be completed this week.
The official’s promises convinced the protesters, who left the scene and allowed the passage of the train after a two-hour delay.
