While Asghar Farhadi’s new film, The Past, will open in cinemas across Iran, the Culture Ministry has prohibited billboard ads to promote it.
ILNA reports that its distributor has said that the ministry has an issue with the design of the film’s posters and billboards and will not permit them to be displayed.
The ministry has specifically taken issue with the female protagonist’s long hair and her positioning next to the male character in the photo.
Farhadi shot his last film in France after the success of his award winning film The Separation.
