
Jailed labour activist Afshin Osanloo died on Saturday June 22 following complications brought on by a cardiac arrest, the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports.
According to the report, Osanloo was transferred to hospital on Thursday June 20 after he suffered a heart attack in Rejai Shahr Prison.
Osanloo was the founder of the out-of-city bus drivers’ union and the brother of Mansour Osanloo, founder of Tehran Sherkat Vahed bus drivers. Afshin Osanloo was serving a five-year sentence for “assembly and collusion.”
Before his transfer to Rejai Shahr Prison, he was in Evin Prison as well as the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Karaj. According to reports from Kaleme website, he was subjected to severe beatings and torture.
