Campaigning ends for Iranian candidates

Campaigning for the presidency and for City Council positions ended at 8 AM today, Thursday June 13, and candidates are no longer allowed to engage in any form of advertisement.

According to elections laws, advertising must end 24 hours prior to the actual elections.

The Interior Minister has announced that no violations were committed during the campaign period.

The head of National Elections, Solat Mortazavi, said today that his office is prepared to conduct a second round of elections if necessary.

Mortazavi added that if there is a second round, it will take place the following Friday.

The elections are set for tomorrow, June 14.
