Shiraz was rocked by an earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale at 3:10 AM today, Monday May 13.
The head of the Shiraz emergency task force told Mehr News Agency that the earthquake occurred near Salt Lake and was felt acutely because it hit at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Salt Lake is located 17 kilometres southeast of the city of Shiraz, but there have been no reports of damages.
Reports indicate that Shiraz residents ran into streets when the earthquake struck and spent hours in city streets and parks.
Meanwhile, Hormozgan Province continues to be hit with earthquakes. Goharan was reportedly rocked by 11 earthquakes on Monday morning, the strongest of which registered at 4.3 on the Richter scale.
Two day ago, Jask Port was rocked by an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale that left one person dead and 17 wounded.
