Iran’s Foreign Ministry has denounced Israel’s recent air strike on Syria and called on countries in the region to stand up “against such invasions.”
According to the Fars News Agency, ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Israel and its supporters are trying to “create ethnic and religious divisions among Islamic countries.”
He added that Israel is trying to cause “instability and insecurity in the region.”
Early Sunday morning, a number of explosions were reported at the Jamraya Military Research Centre in Damascus. Syrian state television announced that the explosions were caused by Israeli rocket attacks.
Israeli radio has reportedly aired a confirmation of the Israeli attack by a senior security official. Israel claims it is targeting weapons bound for Hezbollah militants in Lebanon.
