Ali Parvin, the former Iranian National Soccer captain and coach, has received the golden star from the Asian Football Confederation at a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The veteran football player received the award from the president of FIFA, Sep Blatter, at the 25th AFC congress, which also saw the election of Sheik Salman Bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa of Bahrain as AFC chief.
Top soccer names in Asia were celebrated in a special ceremony, and Ali Parvin received the Golden Star as well as the recognition award on behalf of Homayoon Behzadi and Ali Jabbari, two other veteran Iranian soccer athletes of Persepolis.
Ali Parvin began playing soccer in 1960 and soon joined Persepolis and the National Team. The award-winning athlete is currently on the board of directors of Persepolis.
