Workers House reports that unemployment amongst women has doubled during two terms of Ahmadinejad administration.
Hossein Mahjoub told Shargh Newspaper that women workers now constitute 15 to 17 percent of workers in the country and claimed that the administration has been “hiding” the true statistics with regards to employment.
Workers House deputy chief Hassan Sadeghi told the media that the labour market is moving toward heavy work with increased hours which has led to higher layoffs amongst women workers.
Parvin Mohammadi a labour activist also told Shargh that women in the labour force are working under highly inadequate conditions and this situation even extends to workers in hospitals, contract teachers and even women with higher education who are now often working for low wages without any benefits.
