Protesting workers at the Khatoonabad Copper Factory in Kerman province were dispersed by last night when Special Forces intervened.
Mahian News reports that close to 300 workers had blocked the gates of the factory since last Wednesday, refusing to let in any supplies, until they were forcefully dispersed last night by Special Forces.
The report adds that the workers had staged a sit-in inside the premises calling for their demands to be met.
The workers had been guaranteed to be hired after one year of contract work following their move by presidential order from smaller factories to Khatoonabad. The workers claim that 18 months later they still remain contract workers.
Citing an informed source, Mahan News reports that no one will be hired by the private copper factories and management is looking for alternative solutions.
