Workers at the Dorood Farsit Company in Lorestan Province staged a sit-in across from the governor’s office, demanding official action to address their demands.
ILNA reports that the protesters said they were forced to take their issues to government officials after months of delayed wages and refusals by the company’s CEO and managers to take responsibility.
Protesters also condemned the recent dismissal of contract workers who had worked for the company for more than 10 years.
Reports indicate that the protesters’ talks with the governor’s office resulted in a promise by company management to pay five months worth of back wages.
The Farsit Company produces cement fibres, rubber parts, industrial coatings and rollers.
The steep decline of the national currency coupled with the removal of government energy subsidies have led to decreased activity and even closures at numerous factories in recent years.
