Iranian media report that at 7:45 AM local time, another earthquake hit Saravan in Sistan-Baluchistan, measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale.
Another report indicates that two aftershocks in Khash, which reached 4.2 on the Richter scale, have shaken the semi-active Taftan Volcano.
The 5.6 quake is thought to be the strongest aftershock to hit after an earthquake measuring 7.5 rocked Saravan yesterday, April 16.
Yesterday’s earthquake was felt in neighbouring countries and, according to some reports, left 40 people dead in Pakistan.
On Tuesday, Iranian media first reported there had been no fatalities but later ISNA reported that one person was killed in Iran and 12 were injured.
There are no reports so far on casualties and damages from today’s strong aftershock.
