Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has issued launched operations at Saghand Uranium mines in Yazd and a yellow cake factory in Ardkan.
Iranian media report that the factory will produce 60 tons of yellow cake per year, which will allow for the production of a higher-quality yellow cake suitable for export.
The Yazd mine will extract uranium from depths of 350 metres, and the uranium will then be turned into yellow cake to produce fuel for nuclear centrifuges.
Ahmadinejad announced that Iran can now control its nuclear energy-production chain.
World powers are concerned about Iran’s uranium enrichment activities, and knowledgeable sources have said that the latest package offered to Iran in the negotiations with the G5+1 calls for the suspension of uranium enrichment in Iran.
