An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale shook the Kaki region, 90 kilometres from Bushehr Port in southwestern Iran, on Tuesday April 9.
Iran state media have so far reported three fatalities. The region is about 90 kilometres from the site of Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Plant.
The quake hit at 4:22 PM and registered a depth of 12 kilometres. It was followed by two aftershocks measuring as strong as 5.4 on the Richter scale.
Four rescue teams have been dispatched to the area, according to the Red Crescent Rescue Operations Organization, but so far no reports have been issued about damages.
IRNA reported however that the earthquake has not affected the activisites of Bushehr Nuclear Plant.
