One hundred workers at the Iran Pouya Refigeration Factory were laid off this week, ILNA reports.
The head of the Workers House in the west end of Tehran announced on Saturday March 9 that the Iran Pouya Refrigeration Factory was shut down after laying off its 100 workers.
Similar reports about factories in Rasht in northern Iran have been cause for concern for Rasht MP Jabbar Kouchakinejad, who reports that at least four main factories in Rasht are on the verge of closure and have already begun laying off workers.
The Ahmadinejad administration has been repeatedly accused of not releasing the real statistics regarding unemployment and other economic indicators.
The scrapping of government subsidies on energy and food staples coupled with the effects of widespread international sanctions have had a severe impact on the Iranian economy in the past year.
