Opposition leaders’ daughters released
Rahnavard and Mousavi

Zahra and Narges Mousavi, the daughters of MirHosein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard, have been released after hours of questioning by Evin Prison interrogators.

The news of their release was confirmed by one of the MOusavi relatives according to ISNA.

The children of Iranian Opposition leaders were arrested this morning, according to opposition website Kaleme. It reported that security forces searched their home for several hours and then took them into custody.

The report of their arrest drew an immediate response from the judiciary, which announced that the women had been summoned to the security court to provide certain explanations and would be released after an hour.

The children of Mousavi and Rahnavard have been issuing open letters contesting the house arrest of their parents and challenging their treatment by the authorities as illegal.

MirHosein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard have been under house arrest for close to two years, and the authorities have held them without any formal charges, denying them any contact with the outside world.

The Mousavi children had issued a letter two weeks ago to emphasize that they are deeply concerned about their parents’ well being, as they have not been allowed any visits with them in the past two months.

They accused the government of “kidnapping” their parents and called for their immediate release.
