The Mehr News Agency reported on Tuesday that some of the Iranian journalists arrested in recent days have been released.
Mehr does not identify the released journalists but reports that some were released on Monday night and others today, Tuesday January 29.
So far, the only name of a released journalist confirmed by reliable sources is Motahareh Shafii, who works for the reformist daily Arman. She was released on Monday night, two days after her arrest.
In recent days, 14 journalists were arrested, all of whom work for various reformist newspapers and publications such as Etemad, Shargh and Bahar.
Yesterday the Minister of Culture announced that the arrests were not media related.
The new wave of journalist arrests by the Islamic Republic authorities has been fiercely condemned by international and political organizations including Amnesty International and Reporters Without Borders.
