The deputy head of Iran’s Police force announced on Saturday the discovery of a “large shipment of explosives” at the Iran-Pakistan border.
The Mehr News Agency reports that Ahmadreza Radan said: “Earlier, Iranian border police together with the Revolutionary Guards and intelligence units succeeded in identifying and capturing a large explosive shipment entering our country.”
Radan said the shipment, discovered at the border, contained 20 time bombs, and the perpetrators were planning to deploy them in various parts of the country.
He added that one individual has been captured in connection with the shipment, but the rest of the gang has fled to Pakistan.
Radan called on Pakistan to maintain better control over its borders.
