A bus accident on Friday night claimed the lives of 26 students in southwestern Iran, Iranian media report.
Officials report that the driver lost control of the bus in rainy weather and the bus overturned, killing 26 students. Another 19 are reported to be injured and were rushed to hospital for treatment. Speeding was reported as the main cause of the accident.
The passengers were reported to be female high school students from Broujan returning from a trip visiting southern Iran.
In another recent road accident in August, a pilgrim bus overturned near Shiraz, killing 21 passengers.
With more than 400,000 accidents and about 20,000 deaths, Iran has one of the worst road safety records.
