Iranian runner, Peymon Nasiri Bazanjani won Iran’s seventh gold medal in the Men’s 1,500m-T20 Final on Tuesday while Siamand Rahman became the strongest man of the 2012 Paralympics giving Iran another gold in the Men’s +100kg category in powerlifting on Wednesday, September 5.
The 24-year-old Rahman lifted 270 kilograms frist and then 280 kilograms on his second attempt increasing his own record of 265kg. His attempt to lift 301 kilograms failed.
Iran’s powerlifting team in the 2012 London Paralympics thus achieved four golds, one silver and one bronze: their best performance ever in the Paralympics.
The Iranian Paralympics caravan won another four bronze medals on Wednesday is athletics and powerlifting while Iran’s Women Archery Team also won the bronze medal.
At the close of the day on September fifth, Iran ranked tenth on the medals chart with 18 medals.
