Iran’s Supreme Leader said in a speech today that “arrogance, self-importance and irrelevant expectations” will not lead to any resolutions with Iran.
IRNA reports that Ayatollah Khamenei, who was speaking on Monday at a meeting of Iranian officials and foreign diplomats on the occasion of a Muslim event, accused world powers of conspiring against Iran over the past 33 years and trying to halt it from becoming “a living model of resistance and progress in the eyes of other nations.”
He stressed that victory against enemies requires “perseverance and persistence”, adding: “The efforts of hegemonic powers to force Iran out of the scene will certainly fail this time as they always have.”
The Supreme Leader’s statements come as Iranian negotiators sit down with the world powers in Moscow to try and resolve international disputes over Iran’s nuclear program.
General predictions about the outcome of the talks have not been very hopeful so far.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the source of the problems lies in the “dominance of the hegemonic system in the world.”
He added that world powers have no regard for human issues, declaring that “on the issue of economic problems in the Western countries, the world witnessed how the hegemonic powers are only trying to solve the problems of bank owners and corporations rather than the problems of the people.”
