Intelligence Ministry says assassination suspects arrested
Majid Shahriyari – Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan

The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence announced that it has arrested people believed responsible for the assassination of nuclear scientists Majid Shahriyari and Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan.

Iranian media reports that suspects are accused in operations that involved the two scientists as well as Ahmadi Roshan’s driver.

The ministry announced that the arrests were made by “tunneling into [Israeli] information and operation bases” in various regions.

The ministry added that more information about the operations will be released in the coming days, following “the clearance of certain security and safety considerations.”

In November of 2010, two separate explosions in Tehran were later explained as assassination attempts on the lives of two nuclear scientists, Fereydoon Abbasi and Majid Shahriyari. While Abbasi survived the attack, Shahriyari was killed.

Abbasi later became the head of Iran’s Atomic Agency.

In December of 2011, another Iranian nuclear, Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, who was commercial deputy of Iran’s Natanz nuclear facilities, was killed in another bomb attack in Tehran. His driver, Reza Ghashghavi, was also injured in the attack and later died in the hospital.

Another Iranian nuclear scientist, Massoud Ali Mohammadi was killed in December of 2008 after a bomb exploded near his home.

Later, Iranian authorities arrested Ali Jamali Fashi as the perpetrator of this attack, and he appeared on state TV claiming he was recruited by the Mossad to carry out the attack.
