Russian officials have announced that there will be further delays in the full launch of Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
IRNA reports that Valery Limarenko, the head of Atom Atomenergoproekt, a subsidiary of Rusatom, said on Monday: “The exact date of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant’s full launch is not clear yet, and currently we are engaged in doing the preparation for it.”
Limarenko added: “We will not rush the full launch of the nuclear plant because safety takes priority in all our activities.”
Earlier, Limarenko had told Ria Novosti that Russian officials hope the full plant will reach full capacity production by the end of 2012.
Last month, Atomstroexport, the Russian contractors working on the Bushehr Power Plant, announced that it would reach full capacity on May 23.
The Bushehr Power Plant has been 35 years in the making and has faced numerous delays.
