Jailed journalist and activist Parastoo Dokouhaki was released on Sunday in Tehran.
Dokouhaki, who was arrested by Iranian security forces in January, was released on bail yesterday, reports from Iran indicate.
An organized-crime investigation by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps had accused Dokouhaki and a number of other journalists of “anti-security crimes” owing to their collaboration with Persian BBC. Persian BBC denies having any collaborators or employees in Iran.
Sahameddin Bourghani and Marzieh Rasouli are two other journalists who have been accused in this case and are currently being held in Evin Prison.
Several Iranian journalists have been arrested over the past few months, accused of collaboration with Persian BBC. The arrests appear to have been triggered by a documentary about Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, which the BBC aired in September.
