Rescue workers have retrieved the bodies of 16 passengers who drowned when a boat sank off the Iranian coast on Saturday with 22 people on board.
Rescue officials announced that five people survived the incident and one passenger is still missing, IRNA reports.
According to the report, the boat was on its way from Bandar Abbas to the Island of Hormuz when it capsized due to bad weather, and the passengers were trapped inside the boat.
The report blames the ship’s captain for failing to heed coast guard weather warnings. The boat’s captain alerted the rescue mission about engine trouble, but the stormy weather hampered the rescue.
