ISNA reports that the daughter of the moderate cleric is being tried on a charge of “propaganda against the regime” in a trial led by Judge Salavati.
Hashemi’s lawyer, Gholamali Riahi, said he presented her defence, and once some supporting documents are submitted to the court, it will issue a verdict.
Faezeh Hashemi was charged for an interview she gave to Rooz-on-line last May.
After that interview, Tehran Prosecutor Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei announced that she was being charged for “insulting the Islamic Republic officials.”
In her interview, Faezeh Hashemi criticized the government and said the country is being run by a bunch of “thugs and hoodlums.”
Faezeh Hashemi had been previously arrested in 2009, during the protests against the controversial re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Faezeh Hashemi’s father was heavily criticized for backing the election protesters and he has since been removed from his other government position as the head of the Assembly of Experts.
