Iran’s Defence Minister denies there has been any munitions trade between Iran and North Korea.
Fars news agency quotes Brigadier General Vahidi as saying: “Iran is completely self-sufficient in its defence industry and does not need other countries.”
Earlier, Reuters had reported on a UN secret document that indicates Iran and North Korea are exchanging missile technology in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
The report cites diplomats who believe the exchange is being accomplished through a third party, China.
Iran and North Korea are under UN sanctions for their nuclear programs. The two countries are banned from international arms trade.
The Iranian Defence Minister said Iran has produced its own ballistic missiles, which will be ready for use in June.
Iran has produced and tested a number of missiles in recent years, insisting that such activities are purely for defence.
