Fatemeh Karroubi released from house arrest for a medical visit
Fatemeh Karroubi

Fatemeh Karroubi was allowed to leave her home, where she is under house arrest with her husband Mehdi Kraroubi, to receive medical treatment.

Saham News, the website close to the opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi, reported that on April 23 Fatemeh Karroubi was finally allowed a visit with her doctor.

After opposition leaders MirHosein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi rallied protesters to join demonstration on February 14 in support of the recent Arab uprisings in the region, the two leaders along with their wives were put under house arrest by Islamic Republic authorities.

The two leaders have been completely cut off from the outside world, and the authorities have blocked all efforts to get news of their situation and health.

While the opposition leaders were even denied visits from their family members, in the past month, sons of the Karroubis have been allowed to visit their parents a handful of times.

While both Mehdi and Fatemeh Karroubi have been reported to be in general good health, Fatemeh Karroubi has reportedly lost a lot of weight.
