Iran’s Supreme Leader rejects resignation of intelligence minister
Ayatollah Khamenei

Two hours after Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accpeted the resignation of his Minister of Intelligence Heydar Moslehi, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei overturned the decision.

Following Ayatollah Khamenei’s rejection of Moslehi’s resignation, he will continue in his role at the head of the intelligence ministry, ISNA reports.

IRNA, the official Islamic Republic news agency published the news saying FARS news agency "contends" that Ayatollah Khamenei has rejected the resignation of the Minister of Intelligence.

This is the first time the Supreme Leader has publicly interfered in the resignation of a cabinet minister.

On Sunday evening, Iranian media reported that Mahmoud Ahamdinejad has accepted the resignation of Heydar Moslehi and has appointed him "adviser to the president on intelligence matters."

The reasons for the resignation were not announced.
