Two sound-bomb explosions have been reported in the northwestern city of Sanandaj in Iran’s Kurdistan Province.
Mehr News Agency reports two explosions occurred last night at about 9:40 PM within minutes apart, and one person was injured by shattered glass.
Kurdistan’s security chief announced that the two explosions occurred within minutes of each other at two locations in the city. The first one was at Azadi Square. The second bomb was in a trash can beside a bank ATM. The explosion destroyed the machine and broke windows nearby.
Kurdistan Province has been experiencing a surge in the attacks against police and military forces in recent months.
On April 2, an armed attack against a military base near the Iraqi border left four government personnel dead.
In another attack in Sanandaj on March 25, a soldier and a police officer were killed.
