
The perpetrators of an armed attack in Sanandaj have been identified and killed, the Commander of Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) ground forces announced today.
Commander Mohammad Pakpour told ISNA that the two “main perpetrators” of the March 24 armed attack were identified by the Revolutionary Guards and intelligence forces. They were killed after being surrounded by the Guards’ forces.
On March 24, two armed attacks were carried out within two hours, as unidentified individuals killed two security officers and injured another in Sanandaj, in the western province of Kurdistan. A civilian was also injured in the attacks.
On Saturday, in another attack on a border police station in Marivon, four officers were killed and two were injured.
Attacks against Islamic Republic security forces in Kurdistan have been on the rise in recent months.
