Yesterday was the 40th day ceremony of the first protestor executed by the Islamic Republic. On September 25th, 2022, 23 year old Mohsen Shekari was protesting against the government murder of Zhina Mahsa Amini on Sattar Khan street in Tehran when he got into an altercation with a member of the Basij militia. On December 8th, 2022, Mohsen was executed for blocking the street and injuring a Basiji. Mohsen Shekari was executed just 74 days after being arrested, tortured and given the death sentence in a sham trial without legal representation. The Islamic Republic has hung 4 protestors in the woman, life, freedom movement so far. Over 100 others risk execution under the dictatorship.
The cartoon of the day is “Keep hanging!” by Lebanese cartoonist Hassan Bleibel via Cartoon Movement.
