Fars provincial authorities report that 57 people were arrested in connection with the violence that broke out on election day in the second round of voting on Friday April 28 in Mamasani.
In a report on ILNA, the head of the Fars Justice Department said the suspects have been charged with ”disturbing the peace and security, vandalism, unauthorized advertisement and firing a weapon”.
The report adds that six people were injured in the incident. Some reports indicate that the dispute arose between supporters of different candidates.
Hossein Goudarzi, the reformist candidate in Mamasani, won the parliamentary seat in the second round of elections.
