Two hundred and eighty five permanent and contract workers are out of a job after the Varamin Sugar Factory completely shut down in March.
ILNA reports that the Varamin Sugar Factory, one of the country’s most reliable industrial units, has been shut down since March 20, and management says keeping the factory running is no longer “economically feasible”.
The factory had 200 contract workers, who have been terminated, and the permanent workers are also facing problems in accessing their benefits.
Iranian businesses have been facing serious problems in recent years due to a downturn in the economy, which is not showing any signs of recovery.
