Nazak Afshar, a former staff member of the French embassy in Tehran who has been under arrest in Evin Prison since March, has been sentenced to six years in jail.
The Kaleme website has reported that Afshar has been experiencing fainting spells in prison, and her family is seriously concerned about her health.
She had left Iran after the 2009 election protests but returned to visit her ailing mother.
During the summer of 2009, she was briefly arrested and charged with “causing disorder by creating a support network and sheltering protesters in the French Embassy’s cultural section”. She was never indicted and after her release she left the country.
Afshar was arrested at the airport upon her return from France in March.
