About 700 workers of Haft Tapeh Sugarcane Factory resumed their protests on Saturday April 9 to demand their delayed wages and benefits and challenge the privatization of the factory.

ILNA reports that the workers say that wages for March and New Year bonuses have not been paid to two thirds of the workforce.
The company had promised they would all get paid by April 5, which has not yet happened.
The company has been delaying payment of the workers’ insurance premiums. The concurrence of these problems with the plan to privatize the company has caused further concern among the workers.
Meanwhile, the company’s sugarcane cutters and transport workers have all stopped work until their concerns are addressed by management.
