An explosion at the Tehran Bazaar on the evening of Wednesday March 16 injured 39 people, twelve of whom are in critical condition.
Hossein Sajedinia, the head of the Tehran police, was quoted as saying: “The explosion was not explosive-related and was possibly caused by chemical reactions.” He added that the police department is investigating the matter.
Iranian national television has named the cause of the blast at the Gheysarieh Corridor of the Tehran Bazaar as the explosion of a gas cylinder.
The wounded have reportedly been transferred to three hospitals and the condition of 12 of them is said to be critical.
