The trial of Iranian journalist and political prisoner Issa Saharkhiz was held after four months.
Roozonline reported on Saturday March 5 that Saharkhiz attended court without a lawyer and the session was over within five minutes. Saharkhiz was reportedly returned to his cell immediately.
Currently there are no reports regarding the content or results of the trial.
Issa Saharkhiz was arrested last November during an operation carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards purportedly “to fight enemy infiltration” of the media and culture.
Saharkhiz has gone on hunger strike to protest his undetermined state and the refusal of the prison authorities to provide him with adequate medical care.
He has reportedly lost 20 kilos and is in grave health.
Saharkhiz, a prominent reformist journalist, was also arrested following the election protests of 2009 and served four years in jail.
