The final list of the Assembly of Experts representatives reveals that two hardliners from Tehran, Mohammad Taghi Mesbah Yazdi and Mohammad Yazdi, did not find their way into the fifth assembly.
Tehran sends 16 representatives to the assembly, and the third top conservative representative, Ahmad Jannati, was in 15th place; however, Yazdi and Mebah Yazdi were are 17th and 19th spots respectively.
Meanwhile, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Hassan Rohani topped the list of Tehran representatives with the highest number of votes, sending a strong message to the establishment that the people are backing moderates in government.
The Guardian Council, headed by Ahmad Jannati, had disqualified most of the reformists and moderates from running in the elections, and reformists had called on voters to support the remaining reformists and those closest to moderate policies.
