Bahman Darolshafayi, a jailed journalist and translator, was released from Evin Prison on bail on Tuesday February 23.
Darolshafayi, who returned to Iran two years ago, was arrested on February 3 at his home.
In Iran, he has worked with various newspapers including Shargh, Etemad Melli, Hamshahri and Chelcheragh. Darolshafayi also worked for five years with Persian BBC while abroad. In the last two years, he had been working mostly as a freelance translator and editor.
Darolshafayi’s “Agh Bahman” blog was a popular news source during the election protests of 2009.
In the lead-up to the elections and following statements from Iran’s Supreme Leader about cultural infiltration, a number of journalists were arrested in the country. The charges against Darolshafayi have not been announced.
