Fifteen activists in Saqez have reportedly been arrested in the past week for undisclosed reasons. Zamaneh has been informed that 10 of the detainees have been released but the other five still remain in custody.
Fatih Dündari, Saman Pashaii, Farshad Darai, Nader Majidian and Behrooz Rishehsaheb along with the other 10 detainees were arrested on February 14 at a gathering at the home of Nader Majidian.
The families of the five detainees report that they have not received any information about their kin and the arrests were reportedly made without a warrant.
Majidian was the editor of a Kurdish/Persian bilingual website which recently ceased its activities.
Saman Pashai, another of the detainees, is a former Greco-Roman Wrestling world champion and a professor at the Azad University of Saqez.
