The head of Iran’s Football Federation, Ali Kafashian, will soon be charged with corruption, Iranian authorities announced on Saturday February 6.
In an interview with the Young Reporters Club on national television, MP MohammadAli Pour Mokhtar said Kafashian will soon be summoned by the court.
“Corruption issues in football run deep,” he said.
Parliament has issued a report on corruption in football administration that makes allegations against 18 people.
“Collusion, bribery, false contracts, forgery, alcohol and drug abuse, extramarital affairs and a gross violation of rules and regulations” are among the allegations against Football Federation administrators listed in the report.
Kafashian has reportedly denied the charges.
