Iranian President Hassan Rohani attended a press conference on Sunday January 17 to announce the successful implementation of the nuclear deal reached between Iran and the 5+1 last July.
Rohani told reporters that the deal shows that “constructive engagement with the world is the right way”.
Asked about the fate of the deal in case of changes in the U.S. government, he said: “Any government that comes to power in the U.S. will inherit the commitments of the current government.”
He added: “It is true that Zionists and U.S. extremists are trying to work against this process, but the world has reached the conclusion that sanctions are not the right way and they lead to a lose-lose situation.”
“Starting today,” said Rohani, “air security for travellers has increased and the unfair freeze on Iranian funds in international institutions has been lifted.”
The president stressed that Iran needs to stimulate the economy with more capital and more exports and the successful culmination of the nuclear deal has removed obstacles in this process.
He said Iran has no restrictions on trade deals with the U.S., adding that restrictions against the sale of passenger planes as well as many Iranian exports have already been removed, adding that the further easing of trade barriers will only benefit the people of Iran and the U.S.
