Bahareh Hedayat, a jailed student and women’s rights activist, was temporarily released on Thursday December 24.

Ramin Ahmadian, Hedayat’s spouse, reported the release on his Facebook page, adding that she has been given a three-day furlough.
Hedayat was arrested in 2009 and sentenced to seven and a half years in prison, and was later given an additional six months for issuing a letter of solidarity from prison on the occasion of National Students’ Day together with fellow jailed activist Majid Tavakoli.
She was supposed to be released last August following the ratification of a new penal law reducing jail terms. However, she was held in prison due to the activation of a two-year suspended jail term issued prior to 2009 and related to another arrest.
