Iranian President Hassan Rohani announced that international sanctions against Iran will be lifted in January following the closure of the IAEA dossier on Possible Military Dimensions (PMD) of Iran’s nuclear program.

In a television interview, Rohani said PMD was “a very complex issue” and the agreement reached in July with the 5+1 facilitated its resolution.
He went on to say that with the end of PMD, the path for the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action has been cleared.
The IAEA Board of Governors unanimously approved the end of PMD on Tuesday December 15 and, at the same time, rescinded the 12 resolutions issued against Iran from 2003 to 2012.
The Iranian president went on to say the time for any criticism of the agreement has expired and now it is time to implement it.
The nuclear agreement reached in Vienna was the subject of severe criticism by some of the Islamic Republic hardliners.
