Jailed Iranian activist Kasra Nouri was released from Evin Prison on Tuesday October 27.
Nouri had been transferred to Evin Prison from Shiraz two weeks ago, according to the Kaleme Website.
Nouri is a dervishes’ rights activist who had collaborated with the Majzooban Noor website, which focuses on news about Iranian dervishes.
Nouri was arrested four years ago and charged with “acting against the regime and collaborating with deviant groups”. Later, “acting against national security and insulting the leader and collaboration with foreign media” was added to his charges, and he was handed a jail term of four years and four months.
He went on a hunger strike for three months to protest the treatment of jailed dervishes by the authorities.
Dervishes have become targets of severe persecution by the Iranian government in past years.
