Iran’s Supreme Leader says: “Holding talks with the United States is prohibited because it yields no benefits and is highly detrimental.”

In a speech at a meeting with the Revolutionary Guards commanders, Ayatollah Khamenei said he is pleased that the Iranian negotiators have been “alert” but warned that the United States has tried to use every opportunity to “infiltrate and take actions against the country’s national interests”.
Iran’s leader has said on several occasions in recent years that he permits negotiations with the United States on the nuclear issue but this should not be taken as a sign of normalization of relations with the U.S.
Ayatollah Khamenei has been consistently issuing warnings against the “cultural, political and economic infiltration” of the country by the West and in particular by the United States.
