The Parvaz Homay group, including Iranian singer and composer Saeed Jafarzadeh, finally performed a concert in Iran after eight years.

ISNA reports that the group performed on the night of Tuesday October 5 at the Vahdat Concert Hall.
The concert was first scheduled to be held last June but was cancelled just hours before the performers were to go on stage. Jafarzadeh had vowed to fight for the group’s “right to perform in their country”.
The reason for the cancellation of the concert was never announced. There has, however, been a widespread backlash from Islamic Republic hardliners against the Rohani administration’s efforts to let the public have greater social liberties. The cancellation of several concerts by local authorities, despite permits issued by the Ministry of Culture and Guidance, are instances of this backlash that have made headlines across the country.
